allied health professional
Someone, other than a physician or nurse, who has formal education, clinical training, or credentials in health care. Allied health professionals differ greatly in what they offer, from dieting tips to medical record maintenance. They are technicians, who perform medical procedures, or therapists and technologists, who supervise and respond to procedures performed. Examples of critical care allied health professionals include emergency medical techniciansphysical or occupational therapists, or radiologic technologists.
